Privacy and cookies

Who we are

Vertical Farming (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for personal information collected on this website. The information officer is the head of the company. You can reach us at info@verticalfarming.co.za or 065 947 3181.

What we collect

We do not ask you to create an account. We do not ask for your name or contact details just because you browse the site. The only information we ask you to type in is what you choose to put in the contact form:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your phone number, if you give one
• Your town or province, if you give one
• What you are interested in
• Your message

Name, email, and message are needed so we can reply. The other fields are optional. If you leave the form blank, nothing is collected from it. You can also phone or email us instead.

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics also records how you use the site. That is separate from the contact form and is described under Cookies. If you reject those cookies, that recording does not start.

To stop the form being flooded, the server keeps a scrambled version of the network address that sent the form. That record lasts up to one hour, is not used to identify you, and is not attached to your message.

Why we use it

We use the form only to read your enquiry and reply to you. When it arrives, we email a short confirmation to the address you entered, and then a person at Vertical Farming replies. We do not sell personal information. We do not add you to a mailing list. We do not send marketing email, SMS, or WhatsApp messages from this website.

How long we keep it

We do not keep a database of website visitors or of past enquiries. Your message is emailed to info@verticalfarming.co.za. We keep that email only while we are dealing with your enquiry, and we do not keep it as a long-term record.

If the email cannot be delivered, the server holds a copy of that one message so it is not lost. That copy is not a customer list. Ask us and we will delete it, together with the email, once you no longer want us to have it.

Who else sees it

The people at Vertical Farming who answer enquiries can read your message. Our website host carries the form and the email so it can reach us. They may use it only for that. We do not pass your name, email, phone number, or message to advertisers or to Google.

If you accept analytics cookies, Google receives the usage information described under Cookies and may process it outside South Africa. We do not send your contact-form details with that information.

Cookies

If you press Accept, this site loads Google Analytics. Google then sets cookies in your browser, including one named _ga, and receives:

• the pages you open, and roughly when
• how you arrived, for example from a search or another link
• a general location, such as a city or region, not a street address
• the type of device and browser you use

We use that only to see which pages are useful. We do not use it to advertise to you, and we do not sell it. Google processes it for us and may store it outside South Africa, including in the United States. Google’s privacy notice is at policies.google.com/privacy. How Analytics uses data is explained in Google’s own guide.

Analytics stays off until you press Accept. Reject keeps it off. This browser remembers the choice so we do not ask on every page. That choice is not sent with the contact form. You can change it here at any time. Clearing this site’s data in your browser settings brings the question back.

After a message sends, the site may store one short-lived cookie so the thank-you page knows that enquiry just arrived. It is not an analytics cookie, it is not shared, and it is cleared once that page has been shown.

Links that leave this site, including WhatsApp and the Fresh Produce Market, are run by other organisations. Their own privacy notices apply once you arrive there.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us:

• whether we hold personal information about you, and for a copy of it
• to correct information that is wrong or out of date
• to delete your enquiry
• to stop using it

Email info@verticalfarming.co.za and we will respond. We do not knowingly collect information about children. This site is for farm enquiries, not for anyone under 18.

Changes

If this notice changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. We will not start collecting extra personal information without saying so here.
